I do not recall ever seeing any antenna projects or designs utilizing open wire or ladder line to feed a 1/4 wave vertical. I would like to feed my 80 meter vertical with ladder line so I can use it

I see no reason ladder line would not work, except if the impedance of the antenna is low as in the case of a vertical (25-35 ohms), the impedance swings on the line will be high, making line length

Of course we all know there are impedance transformation problems you might run into. A 30 ohm antenna through 1/4 wl of 450 ohm line would be 6750 ohms at the tuner end of things. Most tuners are p

Hi Tom, Bill & Topbanders, I think one of the original questioners on this 450 ohm feedline was wanting to feed the high impedance point of a 1/2 wave antenna where the current max is 1/4 wave off gr

A transmission line stub, other than providing matching, radiates. We have the very same common-mode current problems we have with open wire line right into the shack. We just satisfy the SWR issues
