I have used 40 feet of fibreglass cammo support tube. Ten 4-foot tubes on each end of the inverted-L. Just minimal 1/4-wave radials (3 or 4) and guyed at 3 levels with Dacron line. It held up nicely
Here's another possibility: http://home.sandiego.edu/~ekim/e194rfs01/jwmatcher/matcher2.html I've used this a couple of times and it seems to work. 73, -- Jack, W6NF Silver Springs, NV DM09ji _______
R1FJM was huge here at 0741Z. My noise level was S9 and he was well above that! A new one for me on Topband, but most DX *is* new for me :>) -- Jack, W6NF Silver Springs, NV DM09ji __________________
A chip shot here at 0935Z...honest 599, little QSB and easy even with my 100 watts. Now for 80 and 40. -- Jack, W6NF Silver Springs, NV DM09ji _______________________________________________ 160 mete
Don't know about paper QSLs but I have a confirmation from R1FJM in Logbook of The World...worked 10/14/2009 and LoTW confirmation received the next day. -- Jack, W6NF Silver Springs, NV DM09ji _____
Hi, Rick: Just the old broadcaster in me but the station in Reno on 780 is KKOH, not KOH. They still refer to themselves as KOH, trying to claim a bit of the legacy they lost when Citadel bought the
I have just ordered one of KB9YIG's SoftRock v9.0/USB kits with the programmable oscillator and BPF. I intend to play with this as a 2nd receiver on 160 using the N6RK loop antenna. I was concerned a
I bought my XYL (K7MKL) a photo album which is 3 cards high by one car wide. Two cards, back to back, in each slot and big enough for the cards she has now. I also bought a couple of packs of expansi
Just curious: How many medium quality QSL card scans will a typical digital picture frame support? I am in the process of making a display of QSLs from some 330 DXCC entities (not mine, unfortunately
My XYL, K7MKL, has had her Extra for less than a year and her General not much more than that. She is thrilled by the DX QSLs she's been able to acquire and wants to get one from every DXCC entity sh
But, then, at 5w EIRP I guess the playing field is level. You just have to work on your receive antenna! -- Jack, W6NF Silver Springs, NV DM09ji _______________________________________________ UR RST
You should see the loading coil used at the Fallon LORAN station! At least the diameter if a 55 gallon drum to match the 600-foot vertical. Quite impressive. -- Jack, W6NF Silver Springs, NV DM09ji _
Hi, Josep: Given the simplicity and minimal expense, the 2 element vertical performs well. Before being able to afford the Comtek 4-square phasing system last year I had a 2-element 40-meter array up
It's been many years since I have had to make any AM broadcast field measurements. I don't recall if the Potomac Instruments, or other, FIMs go much below 550kHz. 73, -- Jack, W6NF Silver Springs, NV
Yes, I am aware of that, having been CE at several DAs, including one critical night-time array. I was thinking that, if the FIMs covered the necessary frequencies, EIRP could be inferred by measurin
