GE Herb, As much as I *DO* sympathize with your situation, I must tell you, that you are not alone. For some contests I am in "MAR" and some contests I am in "NB" (I would prefer to always be in NB,
A very very few times, I have used /QRP,. but 99.9% of the time I don'tit's not me... I worked VK0IR on 20m SSB in the middle of the night using a couple watts. The op stopped, worked me, and we chat
I second your sentiments Eddy! One of my favorite contests. Very "fair" across the board. I was hoping for a bigger turnout from the "locals" in Eastern VE with wires,(competing for the local plaque)
I would've been another one to jump right on the "MEH" bandwagon, but after scanning my log just quickly, this is the DX I worked in the Stew with my low inverted L & 750w (no RX antennas) W6, DL6, O
Aha! So the truth comes out why you had to leave Minnesota and move south ! (Seriously, I know these are good suggestions Herb, but I laughed when I first read it) Mike/AA . Sometimes it may be advis
I replied to Dan directly that I had a very similar antenna and switch here, with the box only being a few feet away from the switch and no issues. I just had another thought. Is the series capacitor
Dan, take the RCS-10 out and put a so-238(?) barrel connector in there and try again.....also, is your capacitor large enough? Mike VE9AA Mike, Coreen & Corey Smith 699 Rte 616 Keswick Ridge NB Canad
I sure wish they were getting on 6m as well. I know there are a LOT of 6m folks in the 160m ranks. For all the effort it would take to put up a 3el yagi or even a measely vertical - - - heck, their 4
Paul, That was a great writeup ! I thank you. That was the best thing I read all day. VE9AA Mike......ham only since 1978 (also, @ age 14).......so, that makes it only around 34 yrs for me. Not even

By the way, a weird thing happened to me the other week. (rare for 160m that is) Well, not so weird, as maybe insulting.....I was working a bunch of Europe on 160m, spotting them as I went up and dow
There is hardly a station closer to Jack on 160m than me. ( a couple VE1's/VY2's maybe) and yes, I'll be one of the first to admit his keying is indeed a bit "hard", but I wouldn't say he's especiall
I've given out a few 598C or 557AC rst's over the years. 30 yrs ago, 95% of ops knew exactly what I was telling them. Sadly, I think it must be closer to 5% that know what I am telling them nowadays.
Dan, What happens when you *DO* connect the L directly to your coax run and use your radio? IE: is SWR ok? The antenna works? (you make contacts easily). Sounds like RF getting into the Remote switch
Didn't I read somewhere that this band only allowed 1W ERP and antennas less than 10m high or am I thinking of another allocation? VE9AA Mike Mike, Coreen & Corey Smith 699 Rte 616 Keswick Ridge NB C

I don't want to say for certain, but "seems" like VE1ZZ played around with this band as well some years back. I vaguely recall reading a story about Jack making this humoungous loading coil, but don'
I only got on for a very short time in the mid evening (8-10pm local ). Prop must have been kinda weird. Some EU's were over S9 yet I only made a couple of QSOs. I worked W9RE who was actually weak-i

I don't know, so I am asking. What about using galvanized fencing wire? This stuff is tough, and doesn't rust, even when outside for a decade. I'd like to see a squirell (or any critter) gnaw through
