Unfortunately the audio envelope isn't the RF envelope and severely clipped audio results in peakier RF than unprocessed audio. Gives it a splatter characteristic, so saith the book on SSB by Collins

Not really PCs. Tended to take up a whole room or building, and tended to have lots of noise from the card readers. I don't know of any analogue inputs in real time. But speech clippers were tried an

Hey, the "solution" to equalize peak-to-average is to use CW, PSK31, RTTY, or if you must, digital voice! I suppose you could also use NBFM if you want to keep your linear busy. Seriously, the Orion

I operate PSK 31 and RTTY almost exclusively. Just a tiny bit of SSB, no CW any more. But I'd like to try digital voice. Is anyone using it ? Comments ? Hardware ? How's it work with Ten Tec radios ?
