Ok .........I know about the 50 watt drive rule........but .......why does the neighbor behind me have a 250 watt linear in his car being driven by a cb that he asked me to put my drake watt meter on

Probably the 250W is for SSB PEP operation, not continuous carrier. That's about right for continuous carrier operation with 5W drive. If you increase the drive to 10 or 15W (as most SSB cb's) you'd
