The ameritron 811 and 811H are good amps for casual use. but you get what you pay for. for instance the power supply runs at 1600 v for the plate. it uses four 400 volt capacitors in the HV power sup

(b) No station may transmit with a transmitter power exceeding 1.5 kW PEP. I guess it's a different output power allowed in Canada? 73, Duane Duane Calvin, AC5AA Austin, Texas www.ac5aa.com --Origin

How do you measure power output on SSB during periods of no modulation? Transmitter spurs? Wonder what country has the highest maximum legal limit and what it is? Seems to me most countries limit ama

Interesting. 2250 PEP SSB = 1590 W RMS. The Alphas are rated 100% duty cycle "brick on key" at 1.5KW, so 2250 SSB PEP should also be pretty much loafing for the Alpha 87, 89, 91b or 99 or the others

Based on this, if carrier suppression is 60 dB below rated power output, then at no modulation is thus 60 db below peak. So if 60 db below peak is equal to 100 watts, then peak reference power, 60 dB
