Use an external powered speaker, the kind typically used with pc's, and drive the speaker with either the line out or the headphone out using a splitter on the headphone jack. If you're running ssb,

I use series resistors to the two hot terminals of a stereo phone jack for the headphones and a wirewound rear speaker fader rheostat ( Calrad or Philmore I think ) for the speaker. All of this in a
