Common problem. Easy fix. Remove the rubber outer ring from the knob. Get out your hex wrench set and find the right little one to remove the knob. Now clean and lube the little entry to the optical

I want to thank everyone for all the input. I removed the knob, oiled the pads, and relocated the knob out a bit. Now quiet & smooth as silk. This has gotta be the best reflector around..... 73 es gu
