I use the subrx a large percentage of the time for stereo diversity reception with a second antenna. On the low bands, I'll feed the subrx with either a 2nd Beverage antenna or the TX antenna. I do e

Is the reason for the sub par sub receiver due to not having a roofing filter? If not, what is the difference between it and main rx? N4LQ _______________________________________________ TenTec maili

The subreceiver has a 1st i.f. of 45Mhz and a 2nd i.f. of 450Khz and lacks the provision for a narrow roofing filter. It was never intended to be a competition grade receiver. I wish there was an ext

This may be another opportunity for INRAD. I think their roofing filter for the MP is 75mhz. I ordered one for my Omni VI and it should arrive any day. They are expensive but according to initial tes

Yes, and the 4Khz wide filter showed no improvement in the MP's close-in cw performance. The Omni VI and Orion fitted with the 600hz (9Mhz) roofing filter performs so far above the nearest competitio

Although I think such a roofing would help some the Orion's sub RX, and the Pegasus/Jupiter too. I think that you'll find that these "ghost" signals are at +/-12 or 14 kHz away (depending on radio mo

I looked at this briefly and believe there are off-the-shelf 4khz wide 450Khz i.f. ceramic filters that could just be dropped in where the 15khz filter is. Perhaps some experimenter might try this on

Steve, The problem is, if you place a smaller roofing filter in the Orion's second receiver's front end, you won't be able to use the AM and FM modes. If you want to kill those two modes, then you do

I would think a switch could take care of that problem. It will automatically switch in/out on the Omni VI by selecting one of the N buttons. Perhaps it could be made to switch out when selecting a n

There might be a mode-specific control signal that could be tapped and used to trigger a relay if you wanted the filter switched out for wider modes. Personally, I don't mind losing FM on the subrece

The image signals should be at twice the third IF away or 24 to 28 kHz away and only on one side of the signal and not both. The current roofing filter width is fine for this except it probably has a

I missed something here. If you mean 3rd order IMD products, they are formed when two interfering signals (f1 and f2) mix as 2f1-f2 and 2f2-f1. Assume you are tuned to 14020. An IMD product can be fo

All I am talking about is the image response from the 14 khz IF. If you have a IF desired signal at 45 mhz and you mix it with 45.014, you will get the desired signal to be 14 khz. But if another ver
