I would like to use the Auxiliary I/O plug and cable sent with the Orion II without modification if possible. The I/O socket is 8-pin and the plug is 5-pin. Pin 5 of the socket is a "no connection (N

I recently questioned TT about this very thing. If you want pin 7 along with the PPT (pin 3) and the audio in and out, you'll have to build your own cable. They include an 8 pin DIN with the radio fo

Yes Larry, I found this odd as well. I am not sure what the results would be jumpering. I just said to heck with it and made a new cable today. I am not sure what TenTec was thinking on this one. ___

I would speculate that they either found a cable vendor that made the cable that way or they are trying to use the cable for several different rigs/applcations. It's your rig and you do what you want

He wouldn't have to mess with the socket, John, just open the DIN plug and move the wire from pin 5 to pin 7. That would work fine. _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list

Ken, I use the Orion II with a Hal DXP38 for RTTY and FSK keying (had the Orion I previously with the same setup). After reading your email, you got me wondering what I did; so I unplugged the DIN an

Hi Ken, I think you could probably do that but what I did was wire another plug for FSK, audio out from pin 3 and FSK out from pin 7. Saves disassembling and modifying the Orion. Yes it struck me as

How silly of me! Obviously the TT "dongle" has no pin 7. It's a 5 pin DIN. You have to make up a new DIN plug, as you can see from previous posts. Not a hard thing, of course, but be careful if you'r
