I need some help. The Orion manual is not very lucid on QSK connections. I presume the workings are similar to the Omni, etc., but since this is my first T-T radio, I'm not up to speed. My AL-1200 ha

Be cautioned that unless your Ameritron AL-1200 has hot-switching protection circuitry, the mod as suggested above will likely cause hot-switching at the leading edge of transmission. You mentioned

Wrong !!! Al-1200 has too much keying current to use that method .... Its states there that that hookup is for Alpha 87A & 89 amps only. Terry W6RU

That procedure at Alpha looks good to me. I've been using the AL- 80A with PIN T/R for over 10 years now with the Corsair, Paragon, Pegasus and Jupiter. That's exactly how I do it on all the rigs exc

Paul, As far as I know, the PIN switch in the AL1200 is the same as mine in the AL80A. It is spec'd to switch in less than 500 microseconds. I have taken a very close look with scope and found the am

The Ameritron PIN-5 TR switch that I use draws less than 2 mA current and has open circuit voltage of around 12 volts. No problem for the Ten Tec switching transistor which is rated may times that am
