Does the factory tuner tune only the TX or does it tune the RX as well? Thanks Doug / K0ZU _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@contesting.com http://lists.conte

I suspect that it will effect both TX and RX. However, it will probably not tune until you transmit. So if you switch bands, it will not tune RX until after you TX. 73, Bob __________________________

The block diagrams do not show it in the receive signal path. I've never observed issues with the tuner tuned last for 80M and the receiver on 20M, for example. If I use my external tuner in that way

I looked at the schematic. Antenna 1 comes directly to a jack. If you have the tuner installed, there is a jumper from this jack that goes out directly to the tuner. If you don't have the tuner, ther

I've discovered this several times when I forget I'm in "split" mode and VFO-B is on another band. After tuning, my RX is very attenuated! Oops! So, it has helped me find a problem before I QRM'ed an

That is what is shown in the schematics, but there is no schematic of the tuner board, which may have a shorting relay that is only opened on transmit. Regardless, there is no substantive difference

Grant, You are correct about what you say. But common sense would say that if they didn't want the tuner in the receive path, they would have just put the tuner in series with the transmit low pass f

Can you repeat the test with the tuner tuned to a low frequency like 80 or 160 meters? Or how about inputting a signal on 28 mhz that should be about S9 with the tuner properly tuned for that band an

Grant, Is that on the Orion II or the Orion? On my original Orion with the LDG-sourced tuner, there is a noticeable improvement (or attenuation) of the RX signal after the tuner has been exercised. (

Of course what you said is true, but it is still better to have a matched antenna on receive. There is always the possiblity of very low atmosheric noise on a given night and the extra signal just mi

There are cases where a matched antenna is a benefit, where the receiver noise isn't so good. Most users of 10m antennas already build them pretty well matched, because matching at the transmitter en

Gerald - isn't that the purpose of attenuators? I'm not sure what benefit is to be gained by mismatching RX antenna impedance, although I agree it's not highly critical they be exactly matched. I was

Some receivers have no attenuator. Those that do have only one. Under some condition that can be too much attenuation and under other conditions not enough. And sometimes the attenuation is more than

Carl, I notice on the Orion when I change bands, the built in tuner goes into the bypass mode. If I change frequency in the same band using the stacking function, the tuner does not switch to bypass.
