Jim, I'm not sure how applicable it is to your radio, but FWIW my old OMNI-D is the same way. If you adjust the headphone volume for usable level in a set of headphones, you can't hear it at all thro

Add a 100 ohm resistor in series with the headphones. This will even out the headphone volume to the speaker volume. You can add this resistor right into the headphone plug from your headphones. Carl

I don't understand how that solves the problem. The problem is the difference in level between the radio audio and the sidetone. Adding a resistor will reduce both equally. Am I missing something? 73

This will allow you to set the sidetone volume so it will be the same on headphones as it is on the speaker by desensitizing the headphones. It also should work out to make the radio volume the same
