Finally added a 135' wire to my Hustler 6BTV so as to see if I could get onto 160m.  Band seems more quiet than 80m--but that could be a number of factors, I guess.  One thing I've noticed though is

When I had my Omni A years ago, 160 was always less sensitive than other bands. I would say what you are hearing is normal. 160 has lots of band noise so being a little less sensitive on that band hu

I agree with Carl. This is stressing my memory a bit as I bought my Omni A in 1979... but as I recall, on one of the early pages in the operating manual, Jack wrote that the gain (or sensitivity) of

Normal, and manual indicates sensitivity is about .3 micro volts on higher bands, and 2 or 3 microvolts on 160 if my rememberer is working. You CAN make 160 more sensitive, but you have to go deeper
