Gary, The 560pf cap is back in and the display is back to normal!! Indeed, the scan pin on the MK50398N has a function of timing the updates to the display (I think). Sigh, but the 1khz tone is back

I am curious if the radio always had the tone in the background? If it is something that has recently increased, I'd check the PC board mounting screws, and also be suspicious of any electrolytic cap

Pete, It is possible that this maybe a "feature" but the owner and I feel that it shouldn't be there. It gets a little confusing tuning into CW or SSB with that tone in the background. It does disapp
