The amp is for any rig, just keep power below 20 watts. It will mate with the 539 when it is released 73 Good DX KC4ATU _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@cont

Interesting.  I have been thinking of tossing the FT-817 into the car, but 5W into a low-efficency antenna has deterred me thus far.  This amp is too big for that job. I didn't look to see how it was

Back in the 1980's, I used to run an HW-8 mobile. This is a two watt CW only direct conversion radio. For a stretch of time, almost everyday I would work a European while driving to work. I had a hom

I am certain the new 100 amp has been developed due to hundreds, if not thousands of requests, from Argonaut 509 and later QRP models needing a little more oomph at times. I am certain some members k

The new amp seems to meet the same basic need as the neat old TenTec 405 amplifier that mates so well with the 509 and other QRP rigs as well. 72 de Chas W3KC Jim Miller K4SQR posted: _______________

I think their strategy is to offer a QRP transceiver (the new Argo VI) with a matching optional 100W PA. If the Argo VI comes in at under a $900 then they can offer a QRP/100W station for around $160

I think you may be on to something Jeff. It's pretty clear that there is a market for a QRP radio that can be, in one fashion or another, upgraded to 100 W out. Elecraft is selling quite a few K2/10'

I'm inclined to agree with you and Jeff. As far as buying the 539+418, one scenario that I can see is $$$ up front. Assuming that the final price is around $800-900 for each, it may be easier on a li

I'm somewhat puzzled by why TT discontinued the Argonaut V not too long ago, and the 405 QRP amplifier looong ago, now introduces an amp (I know the new one is 100W vs 50W )and soon an Argonaut VI. S

I would suppose that the 405 amps are hard to support with replacement parts now. The packaging was also dated. There have been many queries on QRP reflectors for sources for a 5 watt to 100 watt amp

The 405 amp was killed by the FCC cb amp ban way back when. The new amp,and the new rules, allow the use of low RF input (qrp level.) It has a microprocessor that monitors the input freq and will ins

Curt, The ArgoV was great in the states but pretty much a flop here in Europe. The receiver couldn't cope with the strong shortwave broadcast stations we have. Its weak IP3 made it useless on 40m and
