Hi folks..... Can someone please see if they have ANY coupling when between ANT1 and ANT2 positions on the FRONT panel? I find that with only one antenna, connected only to the rear panel ANT1 SO 239

I can do the same with only the ground side of the antenna connected at the 238B antenna tuner. The Orion has a lot of gain, and often I can copy signals with nothing connected to the antenna port at

John - I should have mentioned that on my OI 565 - I did have an HP608 on the ANT1 port and a 0.1 uv 14 mhz signal was clearly audible . I suspect the switch isolation is at best only in the order of

John, My Orion 1 exhibits what you describe - I have nothing connected to Ant 2, but if I switch from Ant 1 with a signal on it to Ant 2, I can still hear the signal, though faintly, from the Ant 1 i

I just listened on my Orion. I found an S9 CW station on antenna 1. Switching to antenna 2, I could just barely hear him at S1. This is great isolation. So the real question is how many S units lower

Oh, there will be some degree of coupling. Maybe some 60 dB or so isolation but even then with this much isolation, one is likely to hear signals from one to the other. If you believe that one S unit

Folks, if we are going to discuss this, lets get some data either in dBw or uV values. Otherwise, what's an S-9 signal and a S-2 signal? Frankly, with >60 dB isolation, a signal on the inactive input

And that minuscule coupling can be eliminated when the inactive input isn't being used by covering the coax connector with a cap to shield the center pin. Otherwise DowKey makes relays that improve t

It's not surprising you see coupling between Ant 1 and Ant 2 ports, at a low level. It's not quite "fair" to test levels on an unterminated antenna port. Better to connect an unused port to a 50 ohm

The antenna switch on mine leaks quite a bit. It is not good enough to be of any real value in a "serious" station. I have had to resort (return) to an external switch, especially between the TX ante

Great data. Thanks. Now to the ANT 1 vs. ANT 2 coupling, anything greater than 40 dB is of no significant value. As they say, this is a "no problem" issue. 73 Bob K4TAX ______________________________
