If you choose "Orion" in the Config-Ports menu for the COM port that you are using, it will show you the suggested settings that will work with the Orion. The trickiest part is figuring out which COM

I think you have a typo there. Setting DTR and RTS to "Handshake" is correct, not CW and PTT. Anyway, radio control, CW and PTT all on the same com port is not a good idea. Use a separate com or lpt

No, those are very specialized settings for DTR and RTS. Push the "SET" button to the right after choosing "TT Orion" in the appropriate COM port pulldown. A child window will open and you will see "

On the Windows computer to find the port in use, go to Control Panel, then System, then Device Manager. Scroll down, expand the list, and you will see the port assignments. Make note of these. Also n

winkey is lovely at times but totally unnecessary with the setup of N1MM and the Orion. my Orions work fine with N1MM and the keying is excellent. the settings I gave for the Orion are what N1MM repo

I've used CW via the serial port a lot, but it can get "choppy" if the computer has too much other stuff (or "certain" other stuff) running in the background. That's the problem that WinKey solves re

I've had the same issues, either using the serial or LPT port. Just too much stuff going on for my old computer I guess. The main benefit that interests me about using winkey with N1MM is being able

I concur. A WinKeyer kit and an hour or two of soldering / building can make for reliable CW keying when using N1MM or other logging programs. 73 ES DX, Gary -- AB9M I've had the same issues, either
