Feb 23rd WA8VSJ suggested I check the key socket and investigate the internal keyer.  I have not gotten inside the case yet - limited time.   I did go to the menu.  The CW KEYER was turned to "OFF".

You could jumper around the 455 KHz filters. You would get zero SSB suppression and your carrier level would go up, but any distortion caused by the filter would be eliminated. You may need to remove
