Turn your rig on! Listen...better yet, call CQ! Spend some of the wasted bandwidth on the reflector and get on the air. Populate the ether with RF. Try a new band. There is lot's of good DX out there

All modern receivers have a couple failings. They hear nothing when turned off. And they don't radiate so others can't tell they are on and receiving without somebody calling CQ. 73, Jerry, K0CQ ____

Worse than that, they don't receive when the people you are trying to call are asleep, at work, not listening because your phone band is in the middle of their digital band, or you miss the few minut

I was thinking of the old regen or super regen sans RF stage that radiated about as well as it heard, but others nearby could tell by the radiated signal that it was on and where it was tuned. So the
