Had the same problem with my Astron. But, get this. It went into hum when and only when my wife turned on her handheld hair dryer in the master bathroom on the other side of the house. I never could

The Astron hum indicates it is pulling more amps as it would when the line voltage drops because of the heavy load of the hair dryer upon the circuits. Perhaps the hair dryer is on the same fuse or c

I agree with all you say. Put forth the effort and money in the beginning, so you don't have to keep adding on later as your needs expand. Use EMT conduit, not Romex. And have dedicated circuits for
