Dave  You Still need to have your Orion II hooked to your computer through the serial port for rig control . The sound card interface just you run digital modes .It does not control the rig. 73 John

Jack  a serial to USB is still connecting the Orion to the computer. It does use  a com port  A Ten Tec Model 712 USB soundcard digital mode adapter  just makes an audio connecrion . you need both ty

Ray I just tested my O2 on AM  max output was 80 warrs on an Alpha watt meter also about the same reading on a LP-100A watt meter with the Power set to 100% using the new fearmware version 2.044A 73

The only reason I don't trade my Omni VII is because of its ability to run renote base . Any radio can be made to run remote base but it is a lot more trouble to set up . And the O7 has 3 emty  slots
