Mike: You might try the trick I did with my Scout. If the Argo V has conventional IF amp IC's, you can put a little positive bias on the AGC line to knock down the IF gain. 73, Bob WB2VUF ___________

That's been my experience, too. Once when operating portable, it took a major frequency shift on SSB. I traced the problem to a corroded crimp lug where the power cable connected to the SUV battery.

That's interesting. I never saw that problem with mine on 40 meters. Could it be a grounding wire resonance or antenna issue that causes RF to get into the radio? I once had a problem with birdies wi

Interesting. There isn't much inside those modules except the oscillator and a couple of filters. Maybe it has a bad ceramic cap. That can be hard to find. 73, Bob WB2VUF ____________________________

Does it do that on every band? I had a defective Low Pass Filter board in my Corsair that caused it to trip out on 80 meters when I increased power. 73, Bob WB2VUF ___________________________________

RF can get into the Scout through the power cable. Many owners, including me, use ferrite snap-on chokes on the power cable. 73, Bob WB2VUF _______________________________________________ TenTec mail
