Wrong !!! Al-1200 has too much keying current to use that method .... Its states there that that hookup is for Alpha 87A & 89 amps only. Terry W6RU

Lee, The reason for the diode is to keep the source voltage from the amplifier and the transceiver isolated from each other in case one is greater than the other. Terry W6RU

Grant, Did you have a series diode in the keying line from the amplifier ? Reason why I ask is if the diode is there then nothing should get back to the amp when it is not used. Terry W6RU
