John, As far as power, you have to consider the output of the radio. If you're going to only operate at 5W, then you could use a smaller SLA (sealed lead acid) battery, like the kind they use in secu
Thanks for your input John. You obviously have more experience than me. I was assuming a lot of CQ'ing and QSO's which would be a different story. Sent from my iPad __________________________________
Hi John, Could you provide more specifics for antenna and L tuner? I'd like to do the same on 40m with my Argosy. I love the idea of using a carpenters chalk line reel. It even has a crank up handle!
Hi folks, I'm a new ham and new to this list (and everything!). I recently picked up an Argosy 525 and find that the meter sticks almost all the time on xmit and occasionally on rcv. Is there a remed
Thanks Dave, This is my first HF rig. Just hung a new LNR 40m dipole and I can't believe what I'm hearing. Even picking up portable ops in England. Crazy. I got the rig for CW and very rarely do any

Ok, call me stupid but I'm new to all of this. I have an Argosy 525 and I want to run some other stuff from the 12V out on the back of the rig, but when I put a meter on it, it doesn't show any volta
Wow...thank you SO much for your response and I hope to get to this today. I'll let you know what I find. Regards, Steve KB1WUD -- Steve Roberts (802) 779-7489 _______________________________________
A little followup on this issue. I finally got into my Ten Tec yesterday and removed the meter. I put one drop of DeOxit on the pivot point and bent the needle out slightly (although I didn't perceiv

The phones come with a 1/4" -1/8" stereo adapter so I couldn't use that (unless I just wanted to hear in one ear) so I got a 1/8" Stereo to 1/8" stereo to 1/4" adapter and also picked up a Koss volum
Thanks Rick, I'll put that attenuator together and give that a go. Thanks Steve W1SFR Stephen Roberts Marketing Manager Timberwolf Manufacturing marketing@timberwolfcorp.com http://www.timberwolfcorp
Yes...volume was VERY loud. I cheated and bought a Koss headphone volume control. All is well now and it's great to have an additional volume control for those very loud sigs. Steve Stephen Roberts M

I think I'll have to send/take it to someone as I don't have the experience or the test equipment (I do have a DVM) to tackle a problem like this. Steve W1SFR ________________________________________
Yep....duh...it was the mike. Never would have suspected that it had a 9V battery in it! But then again, what do I know? ;-) The battery read 7.2V. The mike cord was extremely brittle and needed work
GM, I want to add an additional audio out for my Argosy so I can feed it to an external keyer/reader. I originally ran a wire from the phone jack to one of the spare RCA jacks on the back of the unit
