I've noticed that the Band pass tuning range on my Omni VI and Paragon II seems to be far larger than it needs to be--the actual useful tuning range seems to be about 1/4 of the available control rot
I guess I am the only one who has noticed this on the Omni VI? I guess I'll dig into it and see what I can do to fix what is apparently an issue that only bothers me :) Pete _________________________
Hi Chuck Are you sure the crystals are exactly on 6.3 MHz? If I was going to do this, I'd place an request for defective TenTec 6.3 MHz crystal filters. There should be some out there. You can harves
The early Paragons have a bad rap... PL lock problems, battery life... I own a Paragon II and it is a great rig. That tends to scare off a lot of potential owners. I'd rather deal with a project Omni
I, for one, would be very interested in hearing about how you make out. This is a discussion group for TenTec gear. I've seen a lot of off-topic discussions, so something as on topic as home grown cr
If anyone is parting out an Omni VI with the option 1 installed, I'd be interested in buying the complete board and or just the upgrade chip. Not being able to individually lock A and B VFOs is a pai
No, actually I didn't... I understand they dumped a large number of older parts on their last move to smaller quarters. A guy was looking for cabinet decorative side ears, as used on many of the old

Arrrgh! Dallas time chips?? I ran into this on my Paragon II. Ordered two chips on eBay, and received junk that had older date codes than what I was trying to replace from idiot Chinese vendors with
Well, I had a few opened up, but it is not a "chip," but a chip encased in a plastic case on a DIP header. The IC inside does have a pin for the external battery, but in the module the pin is bent ba
Hi Clayton Let me research this.... option 1 adds the individual lock for both A and B VFO. I'm too worried about the button labels for the Option 1 changes, I can use a cheat sheet for that. I know
The Omni VI uses a common lithium button cell in a holder. East to change. Stores the time and band stack register information. The Paragon II stores the same info in the Dallas Ram Chip. I am guessi
Still looking... ROM chip must be from a Option I. Option III, where the boards and cables are changed probably will not work unless I can locate those parts as well. Would also consider a junker/tec
I am looking to upgrade my original Omni VI rig... I'd like to find a tech special Omni VI that has the option 1 CPU control board installed. I'd also consider an Option 3 parts rig that has the need
Does anyone know the frequency for the Ovenaire ovenized oscillator in the early Omni VI? I assume it is 20 MHz, since it drives the uP clock directly, but I want to make sure. Pete _________________
I've been noticing that I have to retune CW stations when chasing DX operations. The drift is enough to be irritating when running narrow CW filters. What is the most likely cause for slow drift prob
You said it is off 120 kc (120 kHz) which is over 1/10th of a MHz. That is a tremendous amount of error... did you mean to say 120 cycles? 120 kHz error would probably be a major failure in the synth
Kc is not, but kc per second (kc/s) is as valid a kHz. A cycle is meaningless, unless it references a time period. kHz, cp/s, etc. The purpose of Hertz was to remove the ambiguity. But 1 Hz and 1 cp/
I may be picking up a project Omni VI Plus. If I can get her running, I will be looking for Inrad roofing filter boards and Inrad roofing filters for the rig. If anyone has an unused Inrad Omni VI ro
It looks to me as if AA6DY is heading for retirement. I believe he was the investor who bankrolled must of the earlier takeovers? Hopefully this is just a changing of the guard, and that the new owne
