That sounds like the 10 meter band crystal is bad. You might try tweaking the 10 meter crystal trimmer and see if you can revive it. Also unplug and replug the crystal a couple of times. Carl Moresch

You could try to reset the battery save area. Do all the following. 1) Power off Orion. 2) Power On holding the VFO B LCK button. 3) Continue holding LCK button until the radio says "Battery Failure"

You really need a special cable where only Send data, receive data and ground to the computer. On a DB25, this is pins 2, 3, and 7 that should be the only ones connected to the computer serial port.
