Hi, I've been reading this list for a little while as a part of the process to changing my primary radio. Whilst I haven't as yet made any decisions an Orion, 1 or 2 is in the frame. At present I use
If you are going to do it with a Pic then it seems trivial. Use the first LO (you may need to buffer it) Count the freq 45-75 MHz in 2.5KHz steps Have the Pic subtract the 45MHz offset Tune the tuner
I just looked in the archive section and though the basic 565 info is there the schematics and firmware do not seem to be. Would suggest that if this info resides elsewhere it be captured rapidly and
I have just bought an Orion 565AT. The radio has 1.373b5 software and suffers from the DSP T/O problem whenever the sweep is running. Usually after a few minutes or so of operation and then touching
Thanks Ron, I see the firmware on that site but only 1.373b5 none of the earlier beta versions shown. Regards Martin, HS0ZED _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec
Thanks Guys, The wiki page as noted by Alan below looks like a great resource. No doubt you'll be hearing more from me later. Many Thanks Martin, HS0ZED Alan Sewell N5NA wrote: ______________________
Here's an update. Investigation showed that the hardware mod has already been done to this radio. Right now I have 2.062a installed and seems fine so far to me, though of course I have a very limited
Hi all, First a big thanks for the inputs about S meter setting and software versions. Well it didn't take long but I've gone back from 2.062a to 1.373b5. My prime comment about why would be that the
Interesting stuff Barry, thanks. I don't use a headset all the time, typically two widely spaced (relatively) loudspeakers but will definitely try this approach. Thanks Martin, HS0ZED _______________
The Orion has two receivers. The primary receiver is an excellent performer but it essentially covers just the amateur bands. The secondary receiver is much more basic, many have compared it with the
Okay, that's interesting Charles, I haven't really studied the second RX that much but it sounds as if it might almost be as good as the Omni VI. Martin, HS0ZED ______________________________________
Hi, I think this is normal. According to my manual pushing the tune button should give you 20 watts. If you follow that with pushing the pwr button you should get whatever the power is set to. Martin
I have no information on this but I wouldn't hold your breath. Beta testing radio software can take a looooong time, depending. With all of the issues that seem to have accompanied the original Orion
As I understand this is necessary to fix whatever it was they broke in the previous release. Which I think nicely proves my point about why Ten-Tec will not do that it's a lesson they probably learne
Guys, I would not, as a matter of course, get into this sort of a discussion as I fear it goes nowhere, but after a night on the beer I can't help but say my tiny little bit, for whatever or not it m
I'm using Commander with DX Lab to control my Orion for logging and would like to set up the user defined controls to do specific things. So far as I recall I have never seen a command reference for
Thanks, I have the info now. Seems the O and OII use the same command set and they now hide the document under the OII menu, ooh sneaky! Anyway thanks to all for the help. I have what I need for now.
Did TT change their knobs since the start of Orion production? My 565AT has knobs with a brushed silver outer appearance but my 302R has a polished chrome ring around it. Thanks Martin, HS0ZED ______
This is a question related specifically to voice modes (SSB) and in particular comes down to the sound of Orion. It is not about how much bandwidth you like as no doubt we all find that varies with t
Thanks for the replies folks, I guess my original post might have been slightly mis-leading, I was referring to the bandwidth on receive and was prompted to look into this a little after I had Spectr
