I may be in the market soon for an older (1990s) contest quality rig, and wonder how the Kenwood TS850 compares to the Ten Tec Omni V overall. Anyone have a chance to compare these 2? The QST review

My wife has told me if I want a new radio, just go ahead and buy one. Haven't taken her up on it yet, but how much does that Icom 7800 cost again? 73s John W5TD ______________________________________

I can find very little on-line about the Ten Tec Paragon II. Is it just an updated Paragon, and if so, what were the main differences? Or is it a vastly improved rig? Does it have an internal keyer,

Hi Carl, Thanks for the information. What is the Paragon II like overall as a rig? Pretty good receiver? Does it still have the higher phase noise that the ARRL commented upon for the Paragon? And re

In looking over the reviews and other on-line sources for rigs, it looks like some of the older Ten Tecs (Omnis, Corsairs I and II, but not the Paragons) use a low first IF (9 mhz or so) with crystal

I think the Katchina 505 came out around the same time, so not sure which was first, but it was for sure the first stand alone rig with IF DSP, even though many, including QST, usually credit the Ico
