Ron:  I'm not familar with the S9 antenna but It might just be slid into several feet of 2" PVC pipe and let the pipe carry the load of the flag. Might want to top it off with a tolet bowl float pain

Rip:  I have also bought a used 563 rev 3 and used it for some time and it is a good radio. I also bought a used Jupiter and did the blue screen uodate.  I like the 538 and it does a really good job.

I always change the PL259 out to type N.  PL259 is not a 50 ohm connector and leaves an impedance bump on the line.  That connector became the default connector after WWII but is somewhere around 93
