Maybe someone has already addressed this... When using the band map to jump to a station, my FT1000MP changes modes from CW to LSB. The stations got into the bandmap correctly as I was S&P'ing my way

This is due to jumping to a band map frequency that is above the SSB cut-off frequency. The default on 160 is 1840 KHz, but you can change it to anything you want with the BAND MAP CUTOFF FREQUENCY =
