What I found frustrating was the TR seemed to NOT populate the exchange messages with any default, while some messages (like CQ) were populated. To those familiar with TR's start-up routine, this is

Well - the CQ messages are easy to populate - afterall you tell TR what your callsign is but it does not ask you for your state so it can not set your exchanges. It used to be this way for all contes

The config file has an item called MY STATE. Seems natural to me that would be used to create an exchange in ARRL. What's it used for then? Without old config files to refer to, or lots of experience
