I did this too, then on the second try re-read the instructions on the screen. It says to do that only if the contest has country multipliers. (or something to that effect) IARU doesn't. So I don't

I feel like people are laughing at me when I call QRZ to check for the frequency in use before I start a run frequency. Sort of like a scarlett Q on my signal Hi Hi. without programs?

i guess you have to have more than an HW16 with 25 watts to a folded dipole to worry about a run frequency as i laboriously entered my 100+ IARU qsos and checked everything using my dos5 edit program
