- I believe the recommended max length on any RS232 type port (which is what you're talking about) for reliable operation is 25 feet. You may be able to stretch that a bit, but i don't know how much. -

- I must admit this is a new one on me of getting to a DOS prompt. Usually Windoze has an entry in the Start Menu for getting a DOS prompt. What are your system specs (Windows version, hardware, etc.)?
