I couldn't install a 2nd card in my new Compaq SR1300NX Sempron with XP home. Don't know why - I couldn't do it and factory tech rep says it can't be done. But it became unimportant when I discovered

I ran into the same situation and answer when I tried to install a sound card onto a Intel Perl motherboard. Trouble here was that the OS, Windows XP, said that the card was present and working, but

Yes, the sound card is onboard. This is a new computer and I was a little leary about doing that. But I guess there is always system restore if I screw it up. 73 Tom W7WHY ___________________________
