I worked them on RTTY in NAQP off of the back of my antenna. That makes all bands/modes except 160m. On 10, 12, 15, 17, and 20m I worked them off the back of my tribander which I can't rotate right n

I don't know about the MFJ-1279, but I am very pleased with my Microham Digikeyer. With the built-in sound card, I can switch computers (laptop to Mac, etc.) instantly with just one, single USB cable
