I'm trying to track down some RFI on 160 and eventually 80, 40, etc. 160 is my focus right now and I'm finding my little VR-500 to be pretty useless and will soon sell it. I recently purchased a Tecs

I wouldn't be in a big hurry to do that -- most noise sources that we hear on 160M will also be heard both above and below 160M -- they're either clocks for microprocessors, switching power supplies,

Gee, I grabbed some AA-cells, stuffed them into my F6a, and went outside earlier - when I saw the original post - then forgot to post the results! On a fairly weak AM-BC station, out here in the coun

I've built up a ferrite rod antenna (~ 7.5" x 0.5" ) and tuned it with a 365pf variable with a vernier dial. It resonates from about 800Khz to 3000Khz so nicely covers my current problem area. Easy t

I assume that the reason some prefer the Tecsun PL-380 is COST. That's unfortunate because for $60 more (based on current Amazon.com prices) the Tecsun PL-660SLV is a MUCH better choice for all aroun

Frank, What's the key RFI-hunting difference between the 660 and the 660SLV, please? I have a 660. Thanks - David KD4E -- *David* ~KD4E~ Nevils, Georgia USA Safe & Secure Search Engine: duckduckgo.co

I, too, was curious, as I have the PL-660. Doing a search on it and on the SLV, I am guessing "SLV" stands for "silver." Mine's black. Howard Frank, _______________________________________________ RF

The PL-660 SLV is the version of the model that has a plain plastic case. At the time I bought my PL-660 I could choose between the plain (silver) plastic case and a version that a "rubberized" coati

I too read the PL880 article in QST. That receiver does not cover the Air Band which the 660 does. In searching for buzzing sources, especially power line sources rich in harmonics, having an AM MODE

Most of the time I don't use an external antenna with the 660. Most of the time I use it as is. I use the 660 to walk around a structure while watching the signal strength meter to get an idea if (a)
