I have a SR II and it is a FABULOUS radio. Having said that, if you just want to DF noise, the pocket sized Sangean radios from C Crane work very well for DF'ing and are a lot easier to carry around.

Look around eBay. I have one and it is VERY nice sounding on AM ala "Antique Mode". Nice large speaker,old fashioned slide rule scale runs on "D" cells and AC. 73, Gary...wa6fgi _____________________
