Hi builders, I picked up a nice ~60 cfm ebm blower at our local hamfest.   This thing needs a motor run cap, 4mfd.   What does a motor run cap do, and is a cap, a cap, is a cap?   Can I just pull a 4

I think I sent you a heavy current cap to be used as a feedthrough for filament voltage, didn't I? Don't really remember. I think that idea of getting a proper motor capacitor at a supply shop is a

Remember, the tolerance for most motor starting capacitors is at least +/- 50%. Therefore, using a 4.7 mfd capacitor is well within those tolerances. Glen, K9STH Website: http://k9sth.com Thanks to e

Thanks again for all the replies.   I picked up a 4mfd 370V motor run cap from Grainger ($4.99) on the way home today.   The blower is running beautifully and very quite.   Guess I can't complain abo
