I have three used 3-500Z tubes I'd like to test. Can I safely test them one at a time in a Henry 2K? My thought is this will allow me to better classify each tube individually and perhaps better matc

Brett: Henry tended to run the filaments in their 3-500z amps in series. The upside is a lower current filament circuit, The downside of course, is you can't run only 1 tube at a time. Don N8ECH On S

The Henry 2K series amplifiers have the filaments in series so yuoust always have two tubes in the amp.. The manual explains why Henry made this choice. You can test a tube by having one known good t

How about removing one plate cap? Every 2x 3-500 amp Ive tried has enough tank circuit tuning range to use on 40 and 20 and dont worry about the Q. Just remember to reduce drive power. Carl Carl, et
