I noticed today on my TenTec Titan 425 that the grid idle current is around 7 or 8mA on the Ig meter. I see this on the amp when I key my TS930S in ssb with no drive. (modulation). I don't recall see

Grid current with no drive isn't normal. It isn't a question of bias. Try just shorting the amp key line without the transceiver connected. If you get some grid current, either the amplifier is unsta

The Titan 425 can easily be run with one tube at a time to zero in on something like this. Just be careful with discharge of the high voltage as you go in. For quick tests, you don't need to replace

Mark,   Although grid current in a triode amp may not be 'normal' under no drive conditions, I have always seen a few mA indicated on the many Titan 425s which I've used as you go to transmit. It may

Mark, another possibility for this anomaly might be the small grid current noticed at keying up the rig is attributed to imperfect carrier balance in the rig's balanced modulator allowing some Tx car
