For <100MHz, Ag-plating is of no value other than to prevent oxidation of the Cu. I polish Cu tank conductors with fine steek wool and coat them with clear urehane varnish. They look ok years later.

Any dielectric lowers Q of RF coils, especially when turns are close spaced and the coil is not very long with small diameter or when reactance is high. Steel wool may leave residue and is a problem

Only a problem for those who don't wipe. For operation of an amplifier in the same building with a gas appliance, varnished Cu is better than Ag-plating because it won't form a sulphide from the gas
