- I picked up a large maybe 70-80 pound transformer that has only a 115 primary. I measured secondary voltage at about 5200 v. The secondary resistance is 147 ohms. Am I correct in assuming I wont get

- Hi Gary, your transformer was designed to use a filter choke followed by modest C type filter. With this type filter you should be able to supply several hundred milliamperes of current. You might wa

- Let's see .... E=IR ... so the voltage loss in the secondary would be E= 147 x current drawn .... say 2 amps = 294volts 5200 - 294 = 4906 volts..... Why do you think you won't get much current out of

- I'll assume for the moment that transformer secondary has a center tap which would make it a 2500VAC transformer in a FWCT rectifier. At that weight it is at least a 500ma CCS rating and likely more.

- That had crossed my mind. Back in Breckenridge, living in a new home with lots of room and acres on which I could put up antennas I picked up some surplus RF generators. I'm sure I have some photos o

- I measured a similar UTC S-50 item with a 5kv ct winding rated at 300madc and a single 115vac primary It reads 460 ohms across the total seconday and weighs about 65 lbs Paul K0UYA __________________
