Has anyone here attempted the tube conversion for the Dentron MLA-2500 from the 8875 tube to the 3CX800A7? I have the instructions laid out by LX2KL and I have a filament transformer for the tubes. T

You might want to check with an expert on this forum to make sure your filament supply is correct. I run a pair of 3cx800A7s and the designer/builder stressed correct filament voltage, if I remember

Even if you have the correct output filament transformer, check the primary. I have a few from the olden days of 115 line voltage. 4CX250s want 6.000. My 30L1 wants 115/230, not todays 120/240 +. The

The only good test for that is to hook up and measure with a load and a True RMS meter. There are still many new production 115/230V transformers being sold altho they test fine on 120/240 + circuits

The GI-7B is fine if all you care about is CHEEEEEP. It also is a horrible tube for a linear and would sound great on 11M I converted an MLA2500 to a single 3CX800A7 some years ago, and it works fine

I'm interested in that, too.  I have an MLA-2500 carcass here sans tubes, and I have been wondering what to do with it.  the GI7B conversion always seems to rise to the surface of that conversation.

Mine are regular Allen screws in my MLA2500. Allen and Bristol wrenches not the same thing. I just use a regular old set of all sizes in one folding case. Bristol wrenches are used on old Collins equ
