Probably a dumb idea, but what about cutting and grafting a custom convection cooling anode to an 8874 or to a 3cx800? Similar to how some of the Russian tubes have interchangeable coolers. Paul, kg7

It can be done, but I don't know what the success ratio would be and the 8874's are already very expensive. The 3CX800 has a larger anode inside the radiator, I don't know if it'd clear of not. The m

Ive mentioned the modified 8874 on here several times since the 90's and even posted a photo of mine elsewhere many years ago. Its still going strong in my 6M portable amp that I converted around 198

Are there any 3CW triodes that would even fit? There are a few small tetrodes but rather hard to find. The only water tubes Ive worked with are the 3CX100A3 with a plumbing pipe jacket for use on 129
