Hi all,   Does anyone know it the timing on the ICOM PRO III linear amplifier SEND line is such that the AMP will not be hot switched on FULL BREAK IN?   I have an old Alpha 76 and can install vacuum

the PRO III uses a relay for the send jack. I always use the T8V from one of the aux jacks to key my amplifiers. I'm sure the relay in the PRO III is pretty fast, 4-5 ms, but every little bit counts.

I don't have the link at hand or time to go looking for it right now but I've seen a rather extensive examination of T/R switching that shows the Icom rigs generally hot switch on returning to receiv

The study I saw (not the AD5X article) was not limited to the IC-7000. The "premature release" applied to all of the "small" radios 706/7000 as well as several of the full size radios - including 77

Joe, I made measurements on a lot of transceivers which can be seen at http://www.w0qe.com/amplifier_timing.html It needs a little updating but might be useful. 73, Larry, W0QE ______________________

Yes, that's one of the sites I was looking for. You will notice that in all of the Icom radios shown, *including* the IC-746Pro and 756Pro, the HSEND line (cyan in the scope pictures) went high betw

I've not used the H-Send line. I like to use the T8 line. It would be interesting to tap it and make the same tests. 73 Jim W7RY _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps

Larry.. I observed the same timing on my 7000. But if you measure T8, (8 volts on transmit) I think you will find that the RF does not continue after T8 goes back low. I also measured the 7200. T8 is

Jim, I haven't seen a radio which brings T8 outside of the radio which may not be of importance to you. Additionally T8 and R8 control the radio mode so T8 might not actually coincide with the RF exa

HSEND *is* the ACC output. HSEND = HF SEND on the rigs with 144 MHz and higher as they also have a VSEND (VHF SEND), typically for 144 and 430 MHz. For the HF or HF and 50 MHz only transceivers the

For what it's worth, the IC765 and the IC728 (at least) also have exactly the same problem - so it goes back quite a long way. 73 Roger VE3ZI _______________________________________________ Amps mail
