Hi A friend has just purchased a FL2000B with Cetron 572b installed .His problem is that he cannot get the swr down to a reasonable level with the tuning slugs .Has someone else had this problem if s

That is a feature of this amp, it is old enough to be meant to be driven from transceivers with tube finals, that had to be tuned anyway, the drive impedance for two 572b's in parallel is about 100Oh

Hello Morrie: The first thing to try is to lengthen the coax between the amp and the transceiver. I would recommend that the cable be at least 20 feet in length, RG 8 type coax. Then, go ahead and re

Yes, Dave Leason wrote a piece about this coax "transformer effect" several years ago. His explanation, the coax "circuit" forms a double peaked, broad band impedance match. I have forgotten the mat

Hi Jim: I would agree, that at HF the small amount of losses introduced with 20 feet or so of RG 8 is pretty insignificant. I believe strongly in the double peaked, broad band impedance match theory.

I do not think it was in his book about Yagi antennas. I recall, at least he mentioned his article about it on either the Antenna or Contesting reflectors, probably about '94 or '95. I have no recol

Oops, sorry, I believe it might have been on the Tower Talk reflector, not Antennas, but just a guess in either case. 73, Jim W6KPI _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list
