Yesterday I did some minor repairs to a friend's amp - resoldering joints on the current sensing resistor. Looking at the circuits later I noticed that the main supply voltage is regulated by having

Steve, How much filtering is there to meet EU regs on noise put on the mains, and is there any power factor correction circuitry? 73 Peter G3RZP Yesterday I did some minor repairs to a friend's amp -

The diagrams I looked at came from here: ok1hra.nagano.cz/Expert_Schematic_diagramsII.pdf I can't see any mains filtering, and no power factor correction. The repairs on my friend's amp required no m

Steve, I did an unscientific check with my SPE 1K. Ripple on the RF envelope at the 1KW level is no worse than with my Alpha 77Dx and 87A at 1500W. It's just noticeable on the scope at the maximum po

This sounds like a product just begging for liquid/water cooling of the heat sink. -40 dBc imd at that power level is the real ticket! 73, Gerald K5GW In a message dated 3/7/2013 7:07:22 A.M. Central

Thanks for the info. Paul, very interesting. The supply voltage drops from 40odd to 30odd volts with power reduction so I'm guessing the current drops 20% or so, with dissipation roughly halving. Ste
