Hello all, A "big bang" arrived to my TL922 amp. I have put some photos & more info here: http://www.qsl.net/4z4tl/pub/tl922_problem_2011.html My findings seem interesting but I am not sure how to in

What frequency have you been operating on? What other sort of mods have been to the amplifier? Is the plate choke stock or has it been rewound? 73 Jim W7RY ___________________________________________

Hi Jim The choke is a home-made replica (quite close) of the original stock. I wounded it myself, but never evaluated it with a Dip meter. (I counted turns, measured spacings, wire diameter & inducta

Isaac. I attempted to re-wind an Ameritron choke and was not too successful. I did not have the EXACT size wire that was on the original choke. That makes a huge difference. I would attempt to re-win

No one has mentioned between turn capacitance. This could be a factor if the wire insulation is not the same material and thickness as the choke you are trying to copy. 73, Dan, N5AR ________________

Hi Guys, Does that specific amplifier incorporate 160-meters...? If not, find yourself a good old National-brand R-175A plate choke (I believe that's the model/part number of it), & install it (hopef

It still has resonances, dont go on WARC without testing. The Ameritron sells for less than the R-175 or 175A often goes for on fleabay. Carl KM1H _______________________________________________ Amps

Hi Guys, I don't believe the old National R-175 / 175A had enough "L" to be suitable for 160-meters--but I could (as always) be corrected! Hi ~73~ de Eddy VE3CUI - VE3XZ ** ** it'll ** if successful.

It has a lot more L than what is used these days in many amps. In fact it is 225uH which is "coincidentally" the same as in the current Ameritrons and copied by Alpha in their latest amps. Carl KM1H

Hi Carl, Most interesting--many thanks! Maybe I'll pull the ol' multi-pi National 3.0-Mh.(?) behemoth out of my HB 2x813 affair, & replace it with the R-175A that I have here in my junque boxxe: a co
