- Hi Group, Amplifier power supplies... I have two toroid transformers, both the same spec and rating, I want to double them up, i.e. parallel on the primary, 240v supply, and series the secondary wind

- Hi Andy Can't see why not. Being toroidal transformers, the magnetic fields should be entirely contained within each individual transformer. Also, you'd probably want to space them a little way apart

- Magnetically I would have thought no problem, but you should consider how you are to cool them and insulate them from each other. If you are using just one central screw, you might want to consider t

- No problemm; that is how it is done. The more core, more flux. Your essentially just making a bigger piece of permeable material. I'd individually wrap the cores in Teflon tape (what plumbers use for

- While it won't hurt his application, you'd be amazed at the amount of flux leakage from those magical self-shielding donuts. For example a iron T-94-2 mix core has enough flux leakage that the induc

- Hello Tom W8JI That is important for RF applications, but mains application are several orders of magnitude away in permeability, numbers of turns and frequency. OK, enough theory... Having an identi

- OK Ian (and others)! Thanks for all the info, and tests, very much appreciated. I'll be trying it out for real over the next week or so, so will let you know how i get on. Cheers.. 73 Andy http://gd
